Annual plan saved money

I was looking for a new customer service platform and checked out a few options. Help Scout had a 15-day free trial which was great to test it out. I ended up going with the annual billing to save some money, about 15% off the monthly price. The value for the features, especially the Knowledge Base, felt worth it. My team is small, so getting a good price point was important.

Easy to use inbox

Needed a better way to handle emails for my online store. Tried Help Scout's Shared Inbox and it was pretty easy to get the hang of. My team picked it up fast. We're also using the Saved Replies which saves a ton of time. No big issues, just works like it should. It's nice not having emails get lost anymore.

Smooth trial experience

Tried the 15-day free trial. Setup was quick for the Shared Inbox. It was easy to invite team members. The interface was clean and simple to navigate. Decided to subscribe after the trial ended. Good product.

Solid, some minor quirks

We switched to Help Scout for their Knowledge Base and Live Chat features. The Knowledge Base is easy to set up and looks professional, which was a big plus. The Live Chat (Beacon) works well for quick customer questions. My only small gripe is that the reporting could be a bit more customizable; I sometimes want to pull very specific data points that aren't readily available. Customer service was helpful when I asked about it, but it's an area they could improve. Still, it's a very reliable system overall.

Good for team communication

I signed up for the Shared Inbox and it really helped my team manage customer emails. The Collision Detection feature was super useful, prevented us from answering the same email twice. Setup was straightforward, took me about an hour to get everyone onboarded. Support was quick when I had a question about integrating with another tool. The mobile app is decent but could use some more features for quick replies. Overall, it's a solid platform for customer support.

How does this compare to Zendesk? We're currently on Zendesk but it feels a bit clunky sometimes, looking for something more streamlined.

S Sam J. 4 weeks ago
I switched from Zendesk to Help Scout and it's so much cleaner. The shared inbox is way better, feels less like individual tickets and more like team collaboration. Plus, the knowledge base is easier to manage, in my opinion.

Zendesk has more features maybe, but Help Scout is definitely simpler to use. If you want something less overwhelming, it's a good choice. Depends on your exact needs though.

My team is small, just getting off the ground. Wondering if there are any special discounts for startups? Like, do they have a program or something?

A Ashley Thompson 1 month ago
Yeah, I remember seeing something about a startup program. You usually have to apply for it though, it's not like an automatic thing. Worth looking into their site for details.

They do! My friend runs a small business and got a discount through their startup program. I think you gotta fill out an application form on their site to see if you qualify.

Is this HIPAA compliant? We handle sensitive customer info and that's a big deal for us.

B Brittany Lewis 1 month ago
Yes, Help Scout is HIPAA compliant. I specifically looked into that for my company because we also handle medical data. They have documentation on their site about it.

They are, afaik. That was a big selling point for us too. You can usually find the details about their security and compliance on their website.

We're a non-profit, wondering if Help Scout offers any specific discounts for organizations like ours? Budgets are always tight.

S Steven K. 1 day ago
They absolutely do! I work for a non-profit and we got a special rate. You just have to apply for the non-profit discount through their website.

My cousin's non-profit uses Help Scout and they get a discount. Reach out to their sales or support, they'll guide you through the application process.

Thinking of trying out the free trial, how easy is it to actually cancel if it doesn't work out? Don't want to get stuck in a subscription I don't want.

K Kevin Garcia 1 month ago
Super easy. I canceled after my trial because it wasn't the right fit at the time. Just a few clicks in the settings, no hassle.

S Susan T. 1 month ago
No issues at all. Their cancellation process is pretty straightforward, you won't get hit with any surprise charges after the trial if you cancel.
